Write the expression for maximum range of the projectile motion of the ball.

Here, v0 is the initial velocity of the ball, θ is the maximum projectile angle, and g is the acceleration due to gravity.

Conclusion:

From the equation (I) the landing distance of the ball is maximum when the quantity 2θ is maximum.

From the trigonometry relation the maximum value for sine function is 1, if 2θ=90°, the corresponding angle is,

  θ=90°2=45°

Therefore, the angle of the ball thrown to the maximum range is 45°.
