Each unit of 'B' is comprised of one unit of 'D', two units of 'E', and one unit of 'F'. Each unit of 'C' requires ½ unit of 'G' and three units of 'H'. The manufacturing lead times for the components are as follows: 'A' - two weeks, 'B' - one week, 'C' - two weeks, 'D' - two weeks, 'E' - three weeks, 'F' - one week, 'G' - two weeks, 'H' - one week. She asked Jan Lauten, a senior systems analyst, to review the large number of printed reports that are distributed to Lazy Eddie’s 35 store managers. “Jan, I just can’t believe that our people really read all of those reports,” Lynn said. “We constantly add new reports, and we never seem to eliminate the old ones. Sometimes I think all we’re doing is keeping the paper companies in business!” Jan replied, “I agree, but what can we do? The managers say they want the reports, but I always see them stacked on top of file cabinets. I’ve never seen anyone read a report.” “I have an idea,” Lynn said. “I want you to come up with a procedure that requires users to review and justify their information needs to see if they really use the reports we send them. The soy candles are made in the company’s production area: mixed by hand and poured into glass jars, labelled, and moved to the shipping department to be sent out all over the country. Customers are usually individuals who find out about the candles from social media. They mostly order small numbers of candles at one time. Sometimes, though, companies order larger amounts of candles to be shipped as a single order. Roshaun’s team consists of eight people who pack and ship orders. Orders arrive via email to the shipping clerk who creates and prints labels, and passes the order to the shipping team that packs the candles into boxes and applies the label. Then the clerk calls an express shipping company to pick up the candles. Roshaun’s team takes such good care of packing each shipment that they have a record of no shipments ever being returned for…arrow_forward
- The Fly-Right Airplane Company builds small jet airplanes to sell to corporations for use by their executives. To meet the needs of these executives, the company's customers sometimes order a custom design of the airplanes being purchased. When this occurs, a substantial start-up cost is incurred to initiate the production of these airplanes. Fly-Right has recently received purchase requests from three customers with short deadlines. However, because the company's production facilities already are almost completely tied up filling previous orders, it will not be able to accept all three orders. Therefore, a decision now needs to be made on the number of airplanes the company will agree to produce (if any) for each of the three customers. The relevant data are given in the next table. The first row gives the start-up cost required to initiate the production of the airplanes for each customer. Once production is under way. the marginal net revenue (which is the purchase price minus the…arrow_forwardmoney borrowed for personal reasons; to be repaid within a specific time frame and with added interest money borrowed for the purchase of real estate; to be repaid within a specific time frame and with added interest money borrowed for business reasons; to be repaid within a specific time frame and with added interest money borrowed for the purchase of a vehicle; to be repaid within a specific time frame and with added interest : Business Loan :: Auto Loan :: Mortgage Loan :: Personal Loan 1 4 6. 8. 9. Product XB has a sales potential in the market; hence, some of it can be sold at the end of Stage 2, and the remaining can be moved to Stage 3. The third stage produces Product XC, and then delivers it to customers. Two units of Product XA produced in Stage 1 are required for each unit of Product XB in Stage 2. In addition, four units of Product XB produced in Stage 2 are required for each unit of Product XC in Stage 3.
