The nonspecific defense system of different structures are as follows:
Defense | Mechanism of working |
Skin | The skin provides a barrier between the internal structures of the body and environment. This keeps the internal structure safe from the external pathogens and dust. |
Saliva, tears and nasal secretion. | These are structures that have chemicals that can kill the external pathogens. |
Mucus | Blocks the bacteria that are sticking to the internal epithelium of the body. |
Stomach acid | The acid causes the killing of the pathogen with a very low pH that come with food. |
Phagocytosis | This is the process, in which any foreign body is digested and converted into smaller pieces by macrophages. |
Interferon | These ra ethe chemicals released by an infected cells and causes the increase in antiviral defenses in nearby cells. |
