Introduction: The main functions of leaves are photosynthesis and transcription. Leaves have a blade-like structure to increase the surface area for light-absorption by chlorophyll. Light is needed for photosynthesis. Also present on leaves are stomata, but these are located in greater number on the lower epidermis.
