What is a starburst galaxy?

The meaning of starburst galaxy.
Answer to Problem 6RQ
The starburst galaxy is type of galaxy, in which stars are forming at an unusually high rate.
Explanation of Solution
Astronomers have discovered many different galaxies that are filled with energy, called active galaxies. Similarly, the starburst galaxy is one type of active galaxy. Starburst galaxy is the galaxy that has an unusually high rate of star formation, as compared to the average rate at which stars are formed. On average, the Milky Way galaxy produces 1 star per year, whereas the Starburst galaxy produces approximately more than 100 stars per year.
This high rate of formation sometimes causes violent disturbance between the galaxies, leading to a collision. The Starburst galaxy is an irregular galaxy, which is deformed due to the nearby galaxy's tidal forces.
Conclusion:
Therefore, the star burst galaxy is type of galaxy in which stars are forming at an unusually high rate.
