A survivorship curve is the graphical representation of the number of individuals in a population that can be expected to survive to any specific age. They tell us how long one lives; whether individuals die early in life or grow to maturity. A typical survivorship curve can be depicted as under:
Type I survivors show low death rate with high survival in early and middle life. For example, humans.
Type II survivors show moderate death rate with a constant survival. For example, birds.
Type III survivors show high death rate in early life with low survival in early stage. For example, cockroaches.
