Concept explainers
To determine:
An experiment that will show that behavior can be environmentally influenced.
Introduction:
Behavior can be either genetically based or environmental based (learned). The genetically based behavior is inherited through generations as a pattern of chemical tagging of the genome and/or histones.
Depending on the compound tagging of the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) or histones, the expression of some genes can be repressed or stimulated. Inherited behavior would be present through generations even without the presence of significant environmental stimuli. The environmental based behavior are behavioral traits that originate due to external stimuli and is not defined by the inherited epigenome by the organism.
