Introduction:

The adrenal glands are the endocrine glands that synthesize a variety of hormones. They are located above each kidney like a cap. They are also called as suprarenal glands. The adrenal glands are made up of two distinct parts, namely adrenal medulla and adrenal cortex. They differ functionally and structurally from each other. The adrenal cortex is the outer layer and it is made up of endocrine tissues. The adrenal medulla is the inner layer and it is made up of both endocrine and neurosecretory tissues. Each adrenal gland secretes two different hormones.
