Concept introduction: The amphibians and the amniotes eventually evolved from the early tetrapods. Modern amphibians are classified into three clades, namely Caudata, Anura, and Gymnophiona. Caudata includes salamanders, mud puppies, and newts. Anura includes frogs, and toads. Gymnophiona includes the limbless caecilians.
