Interpretation:

Draw the structure of the polymeric product (Nomex).

Concept introduction:

The concept which is used here is condensation polymerization. In this type of polymerization, two monomers react together to give rise to polymeric product by the release of small molecule. In this reaction the molecule which is released during this reaction is hydrochloric acid (HCl).

Nomex polymers have aromatic backbone, and hence are more rigid and more durable. It has excellent thermal, chemical and radiation resistance for a polymeric material.

Nomex is used as driving suits for race car drivers and fire retardant materials, along with gloves, long underwear, balaclavas, socks, helmet lining and shoes.
