What was Thomas Young’s discovery?
To Explain: Thomas Young’s discovery.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The phenomena of superimposition of two waves that forms a resultant wave with lower or greater amplitude is called interference.
Thomas Young discovered that when monochromatic light is passed through the two closely narrow slits, then dark and bright fringes are produced on the screen. In this experiment, fringes are produced due to the interference in which the light waves from both holes arriving crest to crest superimpose.
Conclusion:
As per Thomas Young’s experiment, when light passing through the two pinholes then it produces an interference pattern that appears on the screen or wall.
