Question
Chapter 30, Problem 7P
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The effect of a mutation that avoids the σ subunit from separating from the RNA polymerase core should be determined.
Concept introduction:
Non-competitive inhibition can be defined as a type of enzyme inhibition. In this inhibition, usually, the inhibitor diminishes the enzyme activity. The inhibitor gets fixed like the normal substrate does to the enzyme. It occurs even if it has been previously bound or not to the substrate. Unlike competitive inhibition, non-competitive inhibition cannot be overcome with the additional substrate.

Please draw out the stereochemistry in a fischer projection.
Sodium borohydride (NaBH4) is a potent inhibitor of aldolase. It is known to ONLY inhibit theenzyme when it is complexed with substrate. Treatment of the enzyme alone has no effect. What is the mechanism for this inhibition?
Please draw out the mechanism and show how it inhibits this.
