Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
A lens is a transparent piece of material made up of glass capable of refracting light incident on it. These are of two types: convex lens and concave lens.
A convex lens is also called converging lens as it converges or bends the light rays incident on it towards the centre of the lens while a concave lens is also called diverging lens as it diverges away the light rays incident on it away from the centre. A convex lens forms a real and inverted image of an object for all positions of the object except for that object which is placed between optical centre and focus. The image of an object kept in between optical centre and focus is always virtual and magnified as in case of lens of microscope. A concave lens always forms virtual and erect image for all positions of the object kept.
Conclusion:
Hence, a converging lens forms a real and inverted image of all positions of the object except for that when the object is placed between optical centre and focus where it forms virtual, erect and magnified image.
