Concept explainers
To explain: We don’t notice the blind spot in our eyes when we look at our surroundings.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Human eyes is the most sensitive part of our body and is most vital organs also as it enables to see the colourful world. It consists a lens and a screen called retina to focus the image of an object around us.
A blind spot is a spot in human eyes where the optic nerves which carry all the information connects itself to the retina of eyes. There are no light sensitive cells at that spot neither the cone cells nor the rod cells to enable us to see either the intensity of light or its colour. It is the place where the optic nerves exit our eyes and connect to the brain. They don’t have any receptors there to sense. The field of vision remains invisible to the eyes due to lack of receptors. Thus, we humans are not able to sense blind spot in our eyes.
Conclusion:
Hence, we are unable to notice the blind spot because of absence of light sensitive cells there.
