Introduction:
Red blood cells, also termed as erythrocytes, are the cells found in vertebrates. The function of these cells is to circulate oxygen to the entire body. RBCs carry oxygen from the lungs and transfer it to the capillaries near the target tissue. Erythrocytes do not contain mitochondria and nucleus, and their cytoplasm is rich in hemoglobin, a pigment which binds to oxygen in RBCs.
