Question
Chapter 29, Problem 15Q
To determine
If the junctions in the transistor are reverse-biased or forward-biased in the application.
Expert Solution & Answer
Answer to Problem 15Q
Solution:
Base emitter junction - forward biased
Base collector junction - reverse biased.
Explanation of Solution
Given:
In a transistor, the base-emitter junction and the base-collector junction are essentially diodes.
In the circuit, the current from the base will easily flow through the emitter, hence the base emitter junction is forward biased. The current from base will not flow easily through the collector, hence the base collector junction is reverse biased.
