Question
Chapter 29, Problem 19Q
To determine
If diodes can be used to amplify a signal.
Expert Solution & Answer
Answer to Problem 19Q
Solution:
No.
Explanation of Solution
Diodes cannot be used to amplify a signal. Diode allows the easy flow of current through it in one direction when it is forward biased and in the reverse biased, it does not let current flow. And to amplify a signal we need to connect a power supply like in the case of transistors, but there is no way to connect a source of power to use it to amplify a signal in diodes. Hence it can’t be used to amplify a signal
