The menstrual cycle goes parallel with the ovarian cycle. This cycle comprises the collection of endometrium throughout the sexual cycle, accompanied by the expulsion of necrotic tissues, and discharge of vagina. The average period of a menstrual cycle is 5 days. It comprises proliferative phase, secretory phase, premenstrual phase, and menstrual phase.
