Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a high energy carrying compound present in all living beings. The phosphate group of ATP is the site for energy production. The various forms of energy can be transformed from one form to another. So, ATP captures energy in the form of chemical energy and breaks it down into various forms which the cells can easily utilize.
