To determine:
The stage of U.S. population on the S-curve.
Introduction:
S growth curve or sigmoid growth curve illustrates the growth of population in a new environment, where the density of population raises slowly initially, then exponential growth takes place and then declines with negative acceleration phase and the population stabilizes at zero growth rate.
To determine:
The factors which might cause the population to stabilize.
Introduction:
The stability in the population comes at the negative acceleration phase when growth rate becomes zero. When fertility rate become equal to mortality rate then the stabilization of the population occurs.
To determine: immigrate in the US in the search of employment. Recession leads to the loss of jobs in the country.
Whether the recession in the U.S. reduced population growth.
Introduction:
U.S. is a developed country and people from the other corners of the earth.

- How are the maps included here meaningful to the I-P*A*T equation? IPAT Equation: Impact = Population x Affluence x Technologyarrow_forwardWhat does s-shaped pattern of population growth represent? How is T-shaped pattern different from it and why?arrow_forwardThe global human population has surpassed 7 billion, far exceeding our population’s size throughout our history on Earth. Name some specific means by which we have apparently raised Earth’s carrying capacity for our species. Do you think we can continue to raise our carrying capacity? How might we do so? What limiting factors exist for the human population today? Might Earth’s future carrying capacity for us decrease? Why or why not?arrow_forward
- What 3 major factors influence human population growth?arrow_forwarddo you think the global population of 7.1 billion is to too large? Explain. If your answer was yes, what do you think should be done to slow human population growth? if your answer was no, do you believe that there is a population sizethat would be too big? explain. do you think that the population of the country where you live is too large? explain.arrow_forwardThe percentage rate of growth for a population is calculated by the following equation, where t is in years. What was the rate of population growth in India between 2000 and 2015 when the Indian population grew from 1.053 × 109 to 1.311 × 109 people? %=?arrow_forward
- During what phase of the growth curves in each diagram is the population just beginning to colonize an area? (C) a) Which type of population growth appears to continue unchecked? b) The growth curves in the Model are often referred to using the letters of the alphabet they resemble. The logistic growth curve is sometimes referred to as an S-curve. What letter would you use to describe the exponential growth curve? c) What causes the population to slow down during logistic growth? d) The maximum population an environment can sustain is affected by environmental factors that cause the population to level out or become stable. What term is used to describe this level of logistic growth? Diagram A-Exponential Growth Curve Population Numbers Exponential growth Lag phase Time Population Numbers Diagram B-Logistic Growth Curve Lag phase Time Carrying capacity (K) Pressure begins due to environmental resistancearrow_forwardWhich of the following growth models has a constant instantaneous population growth rate (dN/dt) regardless of population size? Select "yes" or "no" for each. logistic [ Choose ] exponential [ Choose ] cycling [ Choose ]arrow_forwardThe human population was 6.0 billion in 1999 and has been growing ~ exponentially with an intrinsic rate of increase of 0.007. How many people could there be 100 years later (2099), if that trend continues? [e = 2.7183 ]arrow_forward
- Which of the following is NOT a reason why middle-income countries in the east have experienced rapid growth rates? Question 6 options: The countries developed abundant new technologies which drove growth These countries had a strong policy structure that supported human capital investments These countries accrued larger savings and invested it domestically These countries encouraged participation in the world marketsarrow_forwardWhat are some of the major health issues facing the world population growth in the last 25 yers?arrow_forwardWhat does the growth rate of 0.7 mean in relation to r=(birth-death)+(immigration-emigration) What does the growth rate of 1 mean in relation to r=(birth-death)+(immigration-emigration) What happens to the population when r is greater than 1? What happens to the the population when r is equal to 1? What happens to the population when r is less than 1? Provide and explain the factors that lead to each type of distributions.arrow_forward
