Toxic shock syndrome is a shock condition caused by the release of toxins in the body. Staphylococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS) is caused by the release of toxin by the Staphylococcus aureus, it releases toxic shock syndrome toxin-I (TSST-I) in the body, which is absorbed in the blood and activates the secretion of cytokines leading to the development of shock condition.
