The steroid can be defined as a biologically active organic compound that has four rings organized in a definite molecular configuration. The steroid core structure consists of seventeen carbon atoms. These carbon atoms are bonded in four rings. Steroids generally show variation due to the presence of functional groups attached to the core ring and by its oxidation state.
