Introduction:
There are two different systems thathelp in getting rid of the hydrogen ions to maintain normal pH (potential of hydrogen). The respiratory system regulates the amount of volatile acid in the extracellular fluids, whereas the urinary system regulates the amount of fixed acids in the extracellular fluids.
