• The carbons atoms of the amino acids are metabolized through two different pathways are called ketogenesis and gluconeogenesis.
• Ketogenesis pathway leads to the formation of ketone bodies, in which carbons are first converted to acetyl-CoA or acetoacetyl-CoA and then to ketone bodies.
