In DNA nitrogenous bases may be adenine, guanine, cytosine or thymine are present while in RNA ribose sugar is present and uracil is present as base in place of thymine.

Uracil on combination with sugar produces uridine which is a nucleoside and on combination with phosphate moiety it produces UMP also known as uridylic acid.
