Concept explainers
Conditions for an adiabatic process.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
In an adiabatic process, there is no heat exchange for a system either during expansion or compression. The adiabatic process can be either reversible or irreversible.
The essential conditions for the adiabatic process to take place are:
- There should be perfect insulation of the system from its surrounding.
- The process should occur at such a pace that there is no time for heat exchange.
Conclusion:
For an adiabatic process, the change in heat of the process has to be zero.
