What is thermal pollution?
To Explain: Thermal pollution.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Pollution can be described as the presence of impurities, i.e., substances that are harmful in the environment.
The word ‘Thermal’ means ‘heat’. Thermal pollution refers to the sudden change in the temperature of a water body. This occurs when a facility takes water from a source and puts it back at a different temperature. This effects the animal and plant species living in the water body. Because of the abrupt change in temperature of a body, these species can die due to thermal shock.
Conclusion:
Thermal pollution refers to sudden change in the temperature of a water body.
