In this process, the thickness of the chip at the exit of the deformation zone (shear plane), viz. deformed chip thickness (tc), can be controlled a priori to be set at specific values by application of a second constraint tool located directly across from the cutting tool. Note that in this process, tc can be set smaller or larger than the undeformed chip thickness (to).
