Concept introduction:

Transamination is an important chemical reaction that involves amino acids. In transamination reaction an amino group is transferred to an α-keto acid and forms a new amino acid. The carbon atom to which amino group is attached is transformed into a new α-keto acid. An oxidative deamination is the process in which an α-amino acid degrades into ammonia and α-keto acid.
