Concept explainers
The reason for feeling relaxed after smoking but heart is actually stressed.
Answer to Problem 20TE
Due to nicotine and acetylcholine in the smoke, one feel relaxed but nicotine binds to acetylcholine causes stress in neurons.
Explanation of Solution
The nicotine in the smoke basically triggers the neurotransmitter acetylcholine as nicotine bind to it, causing the activation of neurotransmitter. Due to which, the tendency to smoke after having food is higher for smokers. The activation of acetylcholine provides the feeling of relaxation, but the nicotine binds with the acetylcholine’s receptors site due to which the neurons get stressed and hence the heart feels the same (stressed).
Conclusion:
Therefore, due to nicotine and acetylcholine in the smoke, one feels relaxed but nicotine binds to acetylcholine causes stress in neurons.
