Question
Chapter 24, Problem 14ESP
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The reason for which organisms evolve a mate selection method for evaluating and optimizing major histocompatibility complex (MHC) diversity.
Introduction:
The MHC is a cluster of genes that generally encodes for cell surface proteins. These proteins are significant for the acquired immune system to identify foreign molecules in vertebrate organisms that in turn regulate the histocompatibility. A major function of MHC is binding to the antigen molecules that are derived from pathogenic organisms and present them over the cell surface so that they can be identified by the T-cells.
