The small intestine is a large hollow tube of the digestive tract where most of the digestion and absorption takes place. It has a length of about 6 meters and diameter of about 4 centimeters.
The entire small intestine can be divided into three regions, namely duodenum, jejunum and ileum. The mesenteries stabilize the position of small intestine by attaching it to the wall of the abdominal cavity.
