Summary Introduction

To find: The body area that has the greatest density of receptors (the foot or the hand).

Introduction: The primary somatosensory cortex is a part of the cerebral cortex. Based on the multiple histologic criteria, it is defined and identified with the mediation of sensations that were originated from the skin, muscles, and joints of the body. The main function of the primary somatosensory cortex is to detect somatic sensations such as touch, temperature, proprioception, and nociception.
