Introduction:
The apneustic centers and pneumotaxic centers (pontine respiratory centers) regulate the depth and the rate of breathing. The apneustic center is inhibited by the pneumotaxic center to regulate the breathing and exhalation pattern in the brain. The regions of hypothalamus and cerebrum regulate the activity of pneumotaxic center which affects the respiratory breathing rate and depth.
