Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation: The following problem can be comprehended by the concept of glycolysis and aerobic respiration.

Concept introduction: Glycolysis is the metabolic conversion of glucose into pyruvate in which the liberated energy is used to produce energy rich molecules like ATP and NADH. It is the process which does not involve the use of molecular oxygen in any of its chemical reactions. Each of the ten sequential reactions of glycolysis process is enzyme-catalyzed. On the other hand, aerobic respiration is the process where ATP molecules are generated by the breakdown of cellular components like carbohydrates, fats and proteins using molecular oxygen. It is the preferred pathways for breakdown of pyruvate in the glycolysis process so as to be fully oxidized by citric acid cycle.
