In the initial trials with Argemone mexicana in Mali, researchers observed patients treated with different herbal medicines by a traditional healer. They performed a blood test on each patient to determine which ones had malaria and tracked each patient to determine if and how quickly he or she recovered. If you were in charge of the next follow-up study, how would you design it? Would you use the traditional healer’s preparations of the plant?
