Chapter 22, Problem 27CP
Summary Introduction
To review:
The effect of aging on the T cells needs to be reviewed.
Introduction:
T cells are a class of immunological cells that are produced in the bonemarrow, but mature in the thymus. These cells are broadly categorized into helper T cells (TH cells), cytotoxic T cells (Tc cells), and regulatory T cells (Treg cells). These cells form the important components of the cell-mediated branch of the immune system and perform myriad of immunological functions. The functionality of T cells deteriorates with the aging process.
