The reason whether the genetic information from two sister chromatids is passed from a single parent or both the parents.

Introduction:

Explanation of Solution

Sister chromatid is also known as one half of the chromosome which is duplicated. Dyad is a term which is known for a pair of sister chromatids. A complete set of chromatids (sister) is formed at the time of Interphase synthesis phase, when there is replication of the cell.

The sister chromatids get separated into 2 different cells at the time of meiosis or mitosis. The sister chromatids are large and identical because they carry same alleles of genes as they are derived from a single chromosome. Hence, if a chromosome consist of two sister chromatids, then it is clear that it is derived from a single parent’s original chromosome.

Conclusion

The genetic information from two sister chromatids is passed from a single parent as the sister chromatids are the duplicated chromatids of the original chromosome.
