Introduction:
The union of sperm and ovum or egg or oocyte is known as fertilization. A zygote is the result of fertilization. Human fertilization is a complex process and requires various steps to complete the process. The oocyte or egg cell matures by the process of the menstrual cycle. At a certain point in the menstrual cycle the female body ready for the process of fertilization. At this point, the mature oocyte is released from the ovary into the uterine tube or fallopian tube. The release of the mature oocyte is known as ovulation. The sperms present in the semen ejaculated into the vagina of the female by the male move to the uterine tube. Only one sperm among the millions unite the mature oocyte in the uterine tube and fertilization takes place.
