Question
Chapter 21, Problem 3AWK
Summary Introduction
To review:
The fact that many sperms but only one egg are produced in the process of fertilization. Also, explain the possibility of successful reproduction in case the cell number is inverted.
Introduction:
One of the two ovaries releases an egg during ovulation. The egg travels down the oviduct with the help of cilia. The sperms deposited in the vagina near the cervix travel to encounter the egg in the oviduct. It is incredible that sperm and egg find each other despite the journey each must take.

Why is sexual reproduction useful if only half the animals can produce offspring and two separate cells must be combined to form a third?
Why is there a need for mitosis and meiosis? Are there characteristics that make them redundant? Explain. If you created an organism, would you use mitosis or meiosis in reproduction? Why? Provide two examples in nature of organisms that only use one process.
