A mother not just keep the embryo within herself, she nourishes it as well. The embryo totally depends upon the mother for food and respiration. The mother provides the embryo with antibodies, which protects the embryo from the pathogen. The embryonic waste is also removed by a structure that connects mother to the embryo. The placenta is the organ, through which this exchange takes place.
