Chapter 2.1, Problem 16P

For Problems 15-20, use the specified number of classes to do the following.

(a) Find the class width.

(b) Make a frequency table showing class limits, class boundaries, midpoints, frequencies, relative frequencies, and cumulative frequencies.

(c) Draw a histogram.

(d) Draw a relative-frequency histogram.

(e) Categorize the basic distribution shape as uniform, mound-shaped symmetric, bimodal, skewed left, or skewed right.

(f) Draw an ogive.

(g) Interpretation Discuss some of the features about the data that the graphs reveal. Consider items such as data range, location of the middle half of the data, unusual values, outliers, etc.

Medical: Glucose Testing The followingdata represent glucose blood levels (mg/100ml) after a 12-hour fast for a random sample of 70 women (Referenece: American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Vol. 19. pp. 345-351). Note: These data are also available for download at the Companion Sites for this text.

A survey form is used by Joseph's Bar & grill to ask customers how they rate the server, food quality, cocktails, prices, and atmosphere of the restaurant. Each characteristic is graded on a scale of excellent (0), very good (V), good (G), average (A), and poor (P) (P). Create a frequency distribution, bar graph, and pie chart to summarize the following food quality data. Would you eat at the restaurant based on the survey results? G G |0 V v 0 o |v A V G A V V G |0 V A G V G A G V G V A G V P V G V A Required: a. Frequency Distribution b. Bar Graph (Manual lay-out/Excel) Pie Chart (Manual lay-out/Excel) C. d. Conclusion
You want to graphically compare the distribution of salaries for mid-level managers between your three manufacturing divisions. Each division has between 37 and 80 mid-level managers. The best way to display the information for this purpose is with a: side by side subplot
(a) Find the class midpoints and class boundaries. (b) Prepare the relative frequency and percentage distribution columns.  (c) Explain why you cannot determine exactly how many customers purchased 10 gallons or less.    (Please only answer the last two parts of the question)
