Chapter 20, Problem 9SQ
Summary Introduction
Introduction: Reassortment is the integration of genome of a species into new arrangements in unrelated individuals. It occurs in viruses for the arousal of some new viral agents. Different processes are involved in the viral reassortment that involves mixing of the genetic materials. This process primarily occurs when the two different viruses infect the same cell. Thereby, they exchange their genetic material, and new forms of viruses (flu strains) are formed. An example is viral reassortment in influenza viruses.
