Chapter 20, Problem 9CR
Summary Introduction
To review:
The use of gene therapy to treat genetic disease.
Introduction:
Gene therapy is the technique that is used to replace a mutated gene with the normal gene to treat genetic disease. Gene therapy depends on the vectors to deliver the normal DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) into the mutated cell. Gene therapy has been attempted for diseases such as severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), cystic fibrosis, cancer, and adenosine deaminase deficiency.
