Optically active compounds are those compounds which rotates lane polarized light when light is passed through their solutions. When the rotation of light is clockwise then the compound is said to be dextrorotatory and plus sign is putted before the degree of rotation. If the rotation is anticlockwise then the compound is said to be laevorotatory. The minus sign is putted before the degree of rotation.
