Defense mechanisms that protect us against anxiety: reaction, formation, projection, and sublimation.

Introduction:

Defence mechanism protects us from conflicts and problem which has been arised due to anxiety. Reaction formation involves a process in which a person controls his undesirable and socially unacceptable behavior by denying their existence. The projection process involves defending against bad impulses by projecting them on someone else. The sublimation process involves altering the id induced impulses by driving that energy into socially acceptable behaviors.
