Chapter 2, Problem 7PS
Explanation of Solution
Development place of LISP (LISt Processing)
LISP was developed by John McCarthy in 1958 at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
John McCarthy from MIT joined at the IBM Information Research Department for a summer position in 1958. He wanted to find the language requirements for doing symbolic computations.
The initial version of LISP (LISt Processing) language was called pure LISP because it was purely a functional language.
- John McCarthy designed LISP mainly as a programming language where all the computations were carried out by applying functions to arguments.
- Variables and statements found in imperative languages were missing in LISP...

Lisp began as a pure functional language but gradually acquired more and more imperative features. Why?
Lisp and Python are dynamically typed languages, while C++ and Java are statically typed languages. Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of each typing method.
