Concept introduction:

Intermolecular hydrogen bonding occurs between two neighboring molecules whereas intramolecular bonding occurs within the molecule itself. Intermolecular hydrogen bonding results into an association of molecules, which increases the strength of hydrogen bonding with a greater number of potential H-bond donors and H-bond acceptors. The compound having intermolecular hydrogen bonding has higher boiling point than the compound having intramolecular hydrogen bonding.
