Concept explainers
(a)
Interpretation: The compounds that consist of covalent bond and those that consist of ionic bonds are to be identified.
Concept introduction: The compound which is formed by two nonmetals or metalloids is known as molecular compounds. The building block of these molecules is atoms which are combined through a shared pairs of electrons called covalent bond. The compounds which are formed by combination of metals and non-metals are known as ionic compounds. These metals and nonmetals are held together by the strong electrostatic forces. The bonds form is known as ionic bond.
