Explanation of Solution

The location of an element in the periodic table is determined by its atomic number. We can determine the number of protons in the nucleus of the element from this, as number of protons is equal to the atomic number. Once we have determined the number of protons in the nucleus of each of the five elements, we can compare them to find the element with fewest protons per nucleus.

Purple color – Hydrogen – atomic number 1 – 1 proton

Blue color – Helium – atomic number 2 - 2 protons

Green color – Fluorine – atomic number 9 - 9 protons

Yellow color – Sulfur – atomic number 16 – 16 protons

Green color – Arsenic – atomic number 33 – 33 protons

Conclusion:

The number of protons in the nucleus of an element is the same as its atomic number. The position of the element in the periodic table is also determined by its atomic number. Using this, we can see that of the five elements shown, hydrogen (Purple Square) has the least protons per nucleus.
